Those who know me well know how introverted I am. It's always been difficult for me to cultivate friendships, so when one comes a-callin', I do my best to nurture it into something real and, hopefully, long-lasting. Well, I feel a friendship coming on, and it is for that person that I created this card. And, as is my wont, I slathered the flowers with WInk of Stella, and think I was even able to capture the sparkle in a photo finally! Hey, maybe we'll have a crafty sleep-over, this new friend and me! You want to come, too? |

Stella on the bats and the brooms, two orange rhinestones, and Souffle pen outlining the bats and the sentiment. I think I'll go as a banana this year, which will justify a stop at Dairy Queen for a banana split. Like I NEEDED justification, right?!
So, it's a Grandma card now. You know what I'm talking about, right? Cards that have little imperfections get sent to Grandma because she can't see that well any more and is just excited to get mail!
I know, I know. "Why is Kelly making Christmas cards instead of snow/winter cards this year?" Relax.! The heathen is still in the house. Bottom line? I'm a sucker for cute Christmas paper and now I have a reason for using it!
I've used a sentiment from The Project Bin's "Maybe Christmas" and created a card with an unusual fold, as well a heart that was made by dipped it in super-thick embossing powder and heating it four times to give it dimension and sheen. Does that closure remind anyone else of the report card envelopes we used to get in grade school? I always fussed with the closure, not sure if the figure eight or the straight loop was the way to go! For those of you who know me well, you are probably surprised to see me posting a Christmas card. No, this heathen has not changed her beliefs; she now just gets to design holiday cards for others to send!
This 4.25" x 4.25" card has a simple pop-up inside. There's room to write a short message on the word search panel as well as the green panel and the back of the card. This is the perfect-sized card for those people who only sign their name(s) on their holiday cards...which, in my estimation, is a complete and utter waste of postage. If you're only going to get in touch with people once a year, why don't you share a little of what's been going on with you? Editorial comments are now concluded!
The number of times I've used this terrific sentiment (many) from The Project Bin's "Cowgirl Up!" is inversely proportional to the number of successful dates I've had (none) since 2002! Is there yet hope for this sassy librarian? This is a 4 x 4 easel card. The sentiment was heat embossed - and I'm not talking about my state of being at the time the card was being constructed! - as was the heart on the inside. Like the paper on the front panel directs, "Giddy up!" dude! I don't want to meet you when I'm 97 and have to stun you with my fantastically decorated walker and a wink to get AND KEEP your attention!
The sentiment is heat embossed and the spots in the corners are acrylic dots I added color to and then heat embossed several times to add sheen.
More cards from the in-between-blogs days!
Here are a couple of projects I did with a set from The Project Bin. The first one is an accordion book made using "Cowgirl Up." "Cowgirl Up" has four sentiments as well as the star you see on the front cover of the book. (The cutie in the photos is one of my many nieces.) The second is a card using another sentiment. It took about six tries to get the edge die to work correctly and by that time I didn't even care if the bottom was not symmetrical!
